Garment Industry Industrial Papers
Newsprint (also known as white newsprint) used in the garment industry is classified across four core application scenarios: pattern making & cutting, interleaving protection, packaging & filling, and special process applications.
Pattern Making & Cutting Stage (Core Application)
1. Garment Marker Paper Also known as: Mark Paper, Layout Paper, CAD Plotting Paper. Mainly 42–45g, compatible with garment CAD plotters and cutting beds. Smooth surface, good toughness, and resistant to deformation, ensuring clear and precise cutting lines. The core paper for garment pattern making.
2. Garment Cutting Paper Also known as: Cutting Bed Paper, Marking Paper. 30–60g, available in rolls and flat sheets, used for manual and machine cutting layout. Cost-effective, sizes and cutting positions can be marked directly on the paper.
3. Cutting Bed Liner Paper Also known as: Base Liner Paper. Laid on the cutting bed surface to isolate fabric from the table, prevents fabric sliding and abrasion, and makes it easier to clean fabric scraps during cutting. Commonly used in 45g roll format.
4. Garment Grid Paper Also known as: Graph Paper. Newsprint with grid lines, used for precise positioning and scale adjustment during garment pattern making. Suitable for sample garment production and pattern adjustment.
二. Interleaving Protection Stage (Production & Storage)
1. Garment Lining Paper Used for internal shaping and surface protection of garments, such as shirt collars and cuff padding, maintaining garment shape and structure. Commonly used in 45g white newsprint.
三. Packaging & Filling Stage (Finished Products & Transport)
1. Bag Stuffing Paper Also known as: Filling Paper. 30–45g, used for filling inside garment packaging bags and boxes, supports garment shape and prevents compression deformation during transport. Suitable for all types of garments and bags.
2. Shoe Stuffing Paper Also known as: Shoe Wrapping Paper. Lightweight and flexible, used for filling and shaping the inside of shoes, while protecting the toe and heel from deformation and scratching. Can also be used for internal support of leather goods.
3. Garment Packaging Paper Also known as: Outer Packaging Paper. 45–60g, used for individual wrapping of finished garments, moisture-proof and dust-proof. Some grades can be printed with brand logos to enhance product presentation.
四. Special Process Stage
1. Garment Crinkle Paper Also known as: Pleating Paper. Approximately 30g, used in garment crinkle and pleating processes. High-temperature resistant and tear-resistant, helps fabric form uniform pleats. Suitable for pleated skirts, shirts, and similar products.
2. Heat Transfer Printing Base Paper 30g lightweight newsprint, used as a carrier for heat transfer printing, transferring patterns onto garment fabrics. More cost-effective than specialty printing paper.
Core Specifications & Properties
Main grammage: 30g, 42g, 45g (most commonly used), 60g
Common sizes: 787×1092mm, 889×1194mm (flat sheets); 1600mm, 1830mm (rolls, compatible with cutting beds)
